I talk to business owners every week. HVAC guys, med spa owners, restaurant managers, contractors, real estate agents. All different industries. All different budgets. But when the conversation gets to digital marketing, the frustration is almost always the same.
They spent money. Something was supposed to happen. Nothing happened. Or something happened but nobody could explain what. And when they called to ask — nobody picked up.
That's not a coincidence. That's the industry.
The Real Problem Isn't The Algorithm
Everyone in the industry loves to blame the algorithm. Google changed something. Meta updated its targeting. TikTok shifted its feed. And sure — those things matter. But the real reason most businesses feel burned by digital marketing has nothing to do with algorithms.
It's simpler than that. Nobody explained what was happening.
You hired an agency. They ran some ads, did some SEO, posted some content. You got a report at the end of the month full of numbers — impressions, click-through rates, cost per acquisition — and you had absolutely no idea what any of it meant. You didn't know if things were working. You didn't know if the strategy made sense. You just knew you were paying for it.
And when you called to ask? You got a voicemail. Or an email three days later from someone you'd never spoken to before.
Activity Is Not the Same As Results
Here's something the industry doesn't want you to know: a lot of what gets sold as digital marketing is just activity. Posting three times a week on Instagram. Sending a monthly newsletter. Running a Google Ads campaign that's never been properly optimized. All of it looks like marketing. Almost none of it is producing anything meaningful.
The research backs this up. One of the most common mistakes businesses make is chasing tactics instead of building a strategy. They see a competitor on TikTok and think they need to be on TikTok. They hear about Google Ads and throw $500 a month at it without any targeting or tracking. They pay someone to post content that nobody is engaging with and call it social media marketing.
Doing things is not the same as doing the right things. And doing the right things without measuring them is just as useless.
The test every business owner should apply: Can your agency explain in plain English — right now, without looking anything up — what they did for you last month, what result it produced, and what they're doing differently this month because of that result? If the answer is no, you have a problem.
What Actually Works
The businesses I see winning with digital marketing aren't necessarily the ones spending the most. They're the ones who are clear on two things: what they want, and whether they're getting it.
They know how many people visited their website this month. They know which ones came from Google and which ones came from ads. They know how many filled out a contact form. And they have an agency — or a partner — who calls them to talk through it in plain English without being asked.
That's it. That's the whole formula. Clear goals, honest tracking, and someone who communicates.
The fact that this sounds simple is exactly the problem. Most agencies can't deliver it because they're too big, too disorganized, or too focused on landing the next client to properly serve the ones they have.
What We Do Differently
At Apex Creative we built the agency around the one complaint we hear more than anything else — nobody talks to us. So we made communication the core of everything we do. Same day responses. Monthly calls in plain English. Reports that actually explain what happened instead of just showing you a graph and hoping you're impressed.
And because we're small and local — right here in Las Vegas — we actually have the time to do that. We don't have 200 clients. We have a focused roster of businesses we're genuinely invested in. When you call us, a real person picks up. When something isn't working, we tell you before you have to ask.
Tired of Not Knowing?
Schedule a free consultation and we'll audit your current digital marketing — and explain everything we find in plain English. No reports full of buzzwords. Just honest answers about what's working and what isn't.
